Mary Schmitz is passionate about providing in-home psychotherapy, believing in the importance of meeting clients in their own environments rather than requiring them to visit an office. She is deeply committed to helping clients overcome the mental health challenges they face daily.
Mary's journey to becoming a therapist was profoundly influenced by her own experiences, including overcoming severe depression, navigating a divorce, and undergoing a transformative conversion to Christianity that changed the course of her life.
While raising three children, she earned a BSW from Minnesota State University, Moorhead, and gained extensive experience working in long-term care settings.
For the past 13 years, she has worked in a facility with clients suffering from persistent mental illness, particularly psychotic disorders; a role she continues to fulfill today.
In pursuit of further education, Mary earned an MSW from St. Catherine/St. Thomas in 2014 and achieved her LICSW in 2018. Additionally, from 2013 to 2015, she gained valuable experience as a Mental Health Practitioner providing ARMHS services.
